In science we had to dissect a frog. My group had a female frog. You know if you have a female frog or not because a female frog has a bunch of little black eggs in it, fat bodies, oviduct, left kidney, urinary bladder and a cloaca. In other words, a male frog has a cloaca, fat bodies, left testis, left kidney, thigh bone, leg bone, achilles tendon, calf muscle and a urinary bladder. As we opened the frog we had to pin it back and take out all the eggs to view the organs. First, we had to take out the fat bodies which are spaghetti shaped structures that are a bright orange or yellow color. The fat bodies are located on the outside of the abdominal wall. After we took out the bodies we started to look at the liver, stomach, heart and lungs. While looking at the stomach we noticed that there was like this spider web looking lines that covered up most of the organs , and this is called the peritoneum. Secondly, we took out the liver from the frog which is the largest structure in the body and they are brown. Third, after taking out the liver we saw the heart, which is located at the top of the liver and it's a triangular shape. Fourth, we took out the lungs, which is located behind the heart and liver.
Eventually, we took out the stomach. When I cut the stomach open there were just straight long lines and no food at all. Next we took out the Small intestine, the large intestine and the Gall bladder. The small intestine is leading from the stomach. Any digested food goes into the small intestine. Then, we took out the large intestine also known as the "cloaca" in the frog. The cloaca is the last stop before wastes, sperm, or urine exit the frog's body. Lastly, we took out the Gall bladder which is a small green sac under the liver. The Gall bladder stores bile. Finally, after taking out all of thoes organs , all that was left in the frog was the spine and some water.
